چکیده
T he Spanish painter Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was the most important artist of the 20th century. It is impossible to consider the development of modern art without him. A unique, highly productive artist who created more than 20000 works in more than 75 years of activity, Picasso was the most frequently exhibited and critiqued artist of the last century. Best known as a painter, he also worked in sculpture, prints, ceramics, and theater design. Blindness was a theme that played an important role in the artist’s first distinctive style, known as the Blue Period.

Blind-variation and selective-retention theory of creativity.
Picasso's Guernica sketches continue to provide a fruitful testing ground for examining and assessing the Blind Variation Selective Retention (BVSR) theory of creativity. Nonmonotonicity--e.g. as indicated by a lack of similarity of successive sketches--is not evidence of a selectionist process; Darwin's theory explains adaptive change, not nonmonotonicity. Although the notion of blindness orig...

The current study investigated whether an extremely long period of blindness might also cause a permanent impairment of visual performance, even in a case of adult-onset blindness. We examined KP, a 71-year-old man who underwent a successful sight-restoring operation after 53 years of bl...
متن کاملUsing functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to explore brain function: cortical representations of language critical areas
Pre-operative determination of the dominant hemisphere for speech and speech associated sensory and motor regions has been of great interest for the neurological surgeons. This dilemma has been of at most importance, but difficult to achieve, requiring either invasive (Wada test) or non-invasive methods (Brain Mapping). In the present study we have employed functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging...
